Enjoy a wonderful brownie sundae! It's an easy, yet filling and yummy treat. This recipe comes from my vintage 1950 Betty Crocker cook book. It was given to me as a gift by my parents and brother when I transitioned jobs and I love it! I hope to share many more recipes with you. Enjoy!
Taken from Betty Crocker's Picture Cook Book:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
1. Melt together over hot water
-2 squares (2oz) unsweetened chocolate (I used coco powder instead and it worked just fine)
-1/3 cup shortening
2. Beat in
-1 cup sugar
-2 eggs
3. Sift together and stir in
-3/4 sifted Gold Medal flour (you can use any brand!)
-1/2 tsp. baking powder
-1/2 tsp. salt
4. Mix in (optional)
-1/2 cup nuts
Spread in well greased 8" square pan. Bake until top has dull crust. A slight imprint will be left when top is touched lightly with finger. Cool slightly...then cut into squares.
Bake for 30 to 35 minutes
Makes: 16 2" squares.
Add in your favorite ice cream, chocolate sauce, and cherries!
